Martyrdom / disappearance conditions

Mohammed Odehs body disappeared on Tuesday May 7th, 2002. However, he was witnessed three times in the Jamal Abdul Nasser Mosque and Beitounia Village visiting his friend, Mr. Amin Al Qaryouti. The last of his voice was heard on a telephone conversation with a friend, which he lived with, at 10:30 p.m., asking him to prepare dinner. His family afterwards made several attempts to search for him, including advertising on Al Quds Newspaper on May 15th, 2002, where several responded in aiding them on his whereabouts. The day after his disappearance on May 8th, 2002, the Israeli newspapers and Al Quds Newspaper announced that the Israeli Security Services arrested a man on the night of May 7th, 2002 (in the description of Mohammed) near Rimonim Settlement, North of Ramallah. On June 17th, 2002, the Occupying Forces raided his familys house located in Qaryout Village in the District of Nablus, gathered a number of his relatives and informed them that Mohammed has been run over by one of the settlers, and is in need of donated blood by a first-degree relative. This information was not valid since the Israeli Forces arrested his brother Mamoun 12 days ago. During that period, the security services informed that his brother Mamoun attempted on several accounts to escape, commit suicide, and/or is dead.
